A LITTLE ABOUT ME THE BEGINNING My first experience with guitar was hearing Revolution by The Beatles when I was 6. There was something about the way that guitar sounded that intrigued me. It wasn't until after watching the movie "Crossroads" that I thought "that's what I wanna do". Steve Vai hooked me and it was all over! MY INFLUENCES Well, obviously Steve Vai was number one. The guy was insane. Joe Satriani followed later and so did Paul Gilbert (Racer X, Mr. Big). Eddie Van Halen was awesome and I really liked Jimi Hendrix but I didn't appreciate his stuff until much later. Recently I've been listening to John 5 and Dimebag Darrell (Pantera). Harry Cody from Shotgun Messiah, Steve Stevens of Billy Idol and Nuno Bettencourt round out the players I really enjoy and have inspired me. MY PRACTICE When I decided I wanted to play guitar, I knew it wasn't just going to be a hobby. I was very serious and disciplined when it came to practicing. I would literally play for 8 to 10 hours a day, discarding any social life someone my age would normally have. Blood blisters would appear underneath the tips of my fingers but I would continue to play, ignorant of the pain I was inflicting upon myself. It was a labor of passion and I was unstoppable. THOUGHTS ON MUSIC Music is a language. Even without words music can speak to everyone in the universe. Songs make us happy, sad, angry... without having to learn the language. Tapping into and understanding this opens us up to being able to communicate with everyone on our planet and others. It can eliminate prejudice and bring love and peace to us all. This should be, in my mind, the reason for creating music. MY STUFF KUSTOM QUAD 100 HD
I've been a snob about guitar amps throught the years. I have yet to find a more musical sounding amp than what the people at KUSTOM have developed. The Quad 100 DFX head is the absolute best sounding, non-tube amp on the planet! Try one for yourself... you won't be disappointed!
ZOOM G7.1ut
Since 1988 I've been using ZOOM products. The 9002 effects processor was my first and they're better than ever with the G7.1ut. Amp modeling beyond insane. The delays, modulations and in particular the acoustic guitar simulator kick butt and the built in expression pedal is a nice touch. No more lugging around 10 individual pedals anymore!
SVK C500M SIGNATURE
My favorite guitar... the SVK ELPC500. Gold hardware, mahogany body, maple top, rosewood fretboard and tons of attitude! This particular model was equipped with the Seymour Duncan SH-13 bridge pickup. Totally metal! I've had this one outfitted with my signature "72" sticker. It makes me play better!!! This truely is a players guitar.
ERNIE BALL RPS 10
I've played EVERY string on the planet and Ernie Ball continues to be my go-to string. They just sound better and last longer than the more expensive brands and they are made right hear in the U.S.A. Support American products people!
1992 * Morphine Tango - A really cool Iron Maiden-esque metal band. Mostly covers but did do some original. A 4 song demo was recorded and I'm still looking for it! 1993 * The Sweethearts - This essentially "glam" band actually got me playing live for the first time. We recorded a 5 song E.P. 1995 * Lollipop Bitches - Ahhh... the beginning of my "makeup" bands. Drummer Kari Ash became bassist of my next group, Peppermint Creeps. 1997 * Peppermint Creeps - Since 1997 this band has given me the best times of my life. Touring across America 5 times, Flying to Europe and playing France and Italy and getting to meet some of the coolest people and bands.... good times! 1998 * Jeffery Michaels - My move into contemporary country music. Rock based but very country flavored. Recorded an album as bassist. Yeah... weird. 2001 * Sick Six Crush - After a year long break from Peppermint Creeps, I started Sick Six Crush with none other than Kari Ash and singer Jay Fisher (JFK) who incidently was the singer from The Sweethearts. Recorded one full length CD. 2002 * Proxy Police - A very short lived band with singer Rob Chaos and guitarist Shawn Smash of Total Chaos. Once again, played bass. Started a recording but never heard it. 2004 * Pretty Boy Floyd - As a fill-in guitarist I performed with this band on and off for about 3 years. 2007 * ANKH! (Featuring Gretchen Bonaduce) - A cover band performing 80's pop and new wave music with a punked-up influence. I played guitar in this band for about a year, left the band and returned in 2010. Left the band for good in January of 2013. Peppermint Creeps recorded 4 full length albums entitled Animatron X, We R The Weirdoz, Cover Up and In Hell. On top of the studio albums, we also released a live CD/DVD package and a 5 song E.P. entitled CreEPshow, produced and recorded by Phil Soussan and Randy Castillo, graphic design by James Lomenzo (White Lion, Megadeth). 2008 PRESS RELEASE "Test Pattern" on Alkaloid Junkie Records. October 3, 2008 - "Test Pattern" is the much anticipated debut solo instrumental album from Macy Malone. On this phenomenal record, Malone exhibits incredible diversity as a composer, writer and guitarist. The album also further showcases him to be one of the most inventive and technically advanced guitarists in the industry today. Fans of heavy rhythms, classically inspired melody lines and ear-catching, over the top guitar work will remember this album as one of the greatest of it's genre. Macy Malone offers a fresh approach to guitar instrumental music on his new CD, which features Macy himself playing and producing everything on it. "this album has been in the works for just over a year now and the time is right to finally release it. It's time to show the guitar community I'm not just a 3 chord hack. Believe it or not I can actually play," exclaims Mr. Malone. Macy Malone is currently the guitarist and co-singer for Gretchen Bonaduce's ANKH! but is best known for his work as guitarist/frontman for the legendary Hollywood band Peppermint Creeps and has performed with such artists as Sophie Simmons (Gene Simmons daughter), Cherie Currie (The Runaways), Dilana (Rockstar Supernova) Jane Wiedlin (Go Go's), Nina Hagen, Slash and Teddy Andreadis (Guns 'n' Roses), Steve Fister (Lita Ford) and Angelo Moore (Fishbone). www.macymalone.com # # # CONTACT MACY Please feel free to write me with any questions or comments using the email form below or simply email macy[at]macymalone.com Powered byEMF Registration Form
